Hi pug friends! My name is Zeena — I’ve heard that my name means “beautiful” and my foster parents say that I’m beautiful on the inside and outside.
I came into Pug Rescue of Florida with my brothers and sisters as part of the Pug Bug Grumble. The funny thing is, I’m not so much attached to other dogs now….I mostly want to be with my person. My foster family calls me a shadow because I follow them everywhere in the house.
I am about 10 yrs old, I’m all pug, and I weigh about 21 lbs. I had some medical issues when I came into rescue that are going to require further treatment. I have a few spots of fur loss and patches of skin that is thick and leathery from excessive itching and scratching (at least those pesky fleas are finally gone for good and my skin can start to heal). I also have some raised bumps on my skin and 2 non fatty growths on my belly. My teeth are where I need a lot of help — I have grade 4 periodontal disease and one tooth is almost falling out so I need a dental cleaning from the vet. I also need to be spayed. I continue to get medicated baths every couple of days and I will be on medication for a couple of months until my skin and teeth infections are cleared up. I also get eye drops to help my eyes feel better.
I’m not really a big fan of playing with dog toys, I do like other dogs and get along with them just fine, but my favorite thing is the company of my people. I like my people so much that I do have a little bit of separation anxiety. It’s not too bad, but I do cry for a short time with my favorite people leave the house. At night I make sure they are close and I like to sleep in bed with my people.
I am potty trained but since I’m getting older I do need to go outside every 3-4 hours therefore I would do best with someone who is home a lot to help me keep my schedule. I like to roam around in my foster family’s fenced yard, but I’m a little girl so I don’t need a lot of space.
I have to wait a couple of months for my vet work to be complete so I should be available for adoption around the middle of September 2018.
