Choko Travolta – Adopted

ck2 ck3

Hello, my fellow pug lovers! My name is Choko and I am a 4 year old very rare chocolate pug. I came into the rescue because my owner could no longer care for me. I am currently on medical hold as my needs are still being evaluated. So, a few years ago, I was dropped at the groomers and had a spine injury where I was paralyzed. Thankfully, my owner took me immediately to see a neurosurgeon and I had emergency surgery. I went through physical therapy, too, and I am walking just fine—I’m a little wobbly but my foster parents say that it actually makes me really cute as I walk with swag. (Imagine the song “Staying Alive” playing in the background. :-P) So, after the surgery, it was thought that I was incontinent due to the accident. Well, when I came into the rescue just a few weeks ago, I had a full check up and the vet found that I had a bladder full of bladder stones! I had them removed and I am doing a lot better already. The hope is that the function in my bladder will improve over time. Due to having bladder stones for a while, my kidneys suffered some damage so I am currently on k/d prescription food. I was also evaluated by a neurologist and was placed on physical therapy a few times a week to re-build the strength in my back legs. When I am adopted, I really need a family who is committed to my recovery.

About my personality, oh my goodness—I am such a cutie pie! I get excited when I get petted that I hop in place. I am so cuddly and affectionate and none of my health issues get me down because I am very active! I love my toy pug and take it with me everywhere. I actually prefer to sleep in a crate at night and I am just a beautiful, happy baby who doesn’t act like I have gone through so much in my short years. I get along great with other dogs and I just love everyone!
