Boo Boo is a special pug in her twilight years who is looking for that one person to love her unconditionally, and a place to finally call home. This beautiful little lady has been with a wonderful foster mom who is a former vet tech, and has taken great care of Boo Boo’s special needs — you’d never know from looking at her, but Boo Boo is blind, partially deaf, incontinent, and maybe a touch of senility. But she is a true flower child at heart…when she goes outside in the yard, she just loves to run around in circles in the grass.
This sweet gal didn’t have it so good before Pug Rescue of Florida stepped in to save her in December 2017, but that is what a true rescue does. A person with a true heart for rescue who wants to help a senior pug would be a great match for Boo Boo. She would do best with someone who is home a lot, and another dog would be good company for her. She doesn’t like to be crated and we’ve tried wearing a halo to help keep her from bumping into things, but she didn’t care for that either…very independent.
Since she is blind, she sleeps a lot…curling up on her nest that she makes from rugs and blankets — and even has a favorite towel that she likes to lie on. But what Boo Boo most loves is to be picked up and held…she loves to cuddle. When it is bedtime, she needs a calming biscuit to help her go to sleep (since she doesn’t know it is night time).
The only medications that she is on (besides heartworm and flea preventative) is half a Benadryl twice a day for allergies, diaper rash cream, and over-the-counter dry eye drops — even though she can’t see, she gets dry sockets, which can make her eyes hurt. Because she is incontinent, she does wear a diaper — and will let you know when it needs to be changed by barking. Boo Boo also barks when she is hungry and when she hears someone in the kitchen cooking (typical pug with that one…don’t think they ever lose that sense!). She just loves her food…that’s her favorite time of the day!
Boo Boo just loves to be loved. And at this stage in her life, and with what she has been through…she truly deserves it. Do you have that heart of gold? Please consider giving Boo Boo a chance at a good life, however limited it may be.
