When we picked up this little sweetheart she was only 5 weeks old. The person that had her thought it’d be a good idea to make some easy money by breeding and selling puppies. When Rosebud was 2 weeks old, her eyes got infected, but the breeder didn’t take her to a vet (after all, that would have cut into her profit). She tried to treat her herself for a while before turning her over to us. She did a horrible job at it. Consequently, by the time we got her, both of Rosebud’s eyes had ruptured and were badly infected; she had pneumonia; was so severely malnourished it was first thought she might be a dwarf. It was doubtful she would even live. We rushed her to our vet and to our Ophthalmologist. She had to have one of her eyes removed immediately. It was touch and go for the first several weeks but she is a little fighter. The Ophthalmologist aggressively treated her one remaining eye to try to save it. He did manage to save it but she has very limited vision in it – just lights and shadows really. Being all puppy and feeling better now, her lack of vision does not slow her down one little bit. The vet clinic described her as a whirling pin ball of a pug, running fearlessly in the direction of any human or other dog for love and attention. She is still very small but they no longer think she is a dwarf, just a little Rosebud of a pug girl. She still has a ways to go but she is looking for a perfect forever home. Rosebud is in a foster home with many other animals and little kids and she loves them all.
