Stella – Medical Hold

Stella the Puggle - Pug Rescue of Florida

This is Stella — an adorable puggle puppy. She’s only 10 months old and is a happy, sweet, good little girl despite the injury to her leg. She is very high energy but very loving. She’s alpha but loves other dogs. She’s not a barker unless she needs to go out to potty.
Stella sustained a serious injury and had her first surgery before she came into Pug Rescue, but we knew she needed additional surgery to address her serious injury. As an active young puggle girl we want her to get the best possible care so she can go on to have the happy busy life we know she will enjoy.
UPDATE 11/15: Stella had her second surgery on Tuesday and she wanted to let everyone know that she did very well and is so thankful for your thoughts and prayers! Here she is when she woke up – a little sleepy but cute as a button.
UPDATE 12/27: Stella is so sweet and loving even with a hurt leg. She has a great spirit. Her second surgery was as successful as we had hoped so she is slated for a third surgery to remove the rod and put a plate w screws on Jan 10. The doctor is waiting so she has time to recover and heal from her first 2 surgery’s. She does likely have permanent nerve damage but will get some use from the leg without pain is the goal! Not using the leg hasn’t slowed her down though. She’s happy all the time and loves to cuddle!

UPDATE 1/4/18: Stella had her 3rd surgery today. She did very well and is at home with her foster mom resting. She will be completely confined to her crate for the first 2 weeks until the stitches come out and the inflammation comes down. The doctor put a bone graft in her leg to help with healing and additional stability for the plate and screws. This little lady is looking at about 4-5 months of recovery 🙂

Stella will be available for adoption after successful completion of her surgeries and rehabilitation. We thank you so much for your show of love and support for this little girl – her medical bills are already over $2,000, your generous donations are very much appreciated to help us cover her rising medical bills.

Because of her young age Pug Rescue of Florida’s Puppy Policies will apply to Stella’s adoption –

Pug Puppy Policies: We rarely have surrendered pug puppies. If a puppy does become available, all applications will be reviewed and the puppy will go to the home PROoF feels is best to take on such a handful. Thank you for understanding.

All Pug Rescue of Florida’s puppies must go to a home with all of the following:

  1. No only dog  homes.  Another small dog playmate that can put up with a puppy is needed, since they are very playful and energetic.
  2. No Big dogs please, they could easily hurt a puppy by mistake.
  3. A fenced in yard and no busy intersections nearby.
  4. No children under the age of 5.
  5. The forever family must not be gone long hours (not more than 4 at a time) as a puppy does need to be monitored, nurtured and potty trained.
  6. If a puppy is adopted before it is old enough to be neutered or spayed, adopter will be required to neuter/spay and provide evidence of neuter/spay to Pug Rescue of Florida.

Complete an adoption application here. If you love me but can’t adopt me, please send a donation to help pay medical bills for not just me but my fellow foster brothers and sisters. They sure could use it!
