My name is Rita — no, I’m not a pug, I am actually a chihuahua-terrier mix.
You may be wondering why I’m at Pug Rescue of Florida if I’m not a pug — well, I came to PROoF from the shelter with another dog. The folks at the shelter told the good people from Pug Rescue that we were found together and that we are bonded, so the Pug Rescue people saved my life as well. It turns out that I don’t really know the other dog and it doesn’t matter to me if we are together or not. Actually I really like getting a lot of attention all to myself so it would probably be best if I come to your house to be an “only” dog.
When I was picked up from the shelter I was very sick, skinny, and so scared. I’m so glad my foster family offered to help me. They have been so nice that it didn’t take me long to learn to trust and love my foster family. The good news is that I am all “fixed” now, fully vetted and had a dental as well.
A note from Rita’s foster family – Rita is truly a lap sausage. This sweet 8 pound little bundle is happiest getting your full attention. She is working on using outside bathroom facilities and is very happy being outside with her owner. Rita is about 8 year old. She can be jealous of her lap time, so a home where she is the only dog getting love would be best. If you are a fan of tail wagging, you will love Rita, her little tail is a blur when she is happy.
